UBCO Skeena

[edit]

Skeena, one of UBC Okanagan's newer housing residence for students built in August of 2020. Skeena is a colourful and bright building that occupies 220 beds. As well as having 220 beds for students the building also offers many study rooms, house lounges and activity rooms. The building is located between Purcell and Nicloa, making it easier for students to make friends and access buildings quicker. [1]

How is Skeena Unique

[edit]

According to UBC Okanagan website the most unique features are "the airtight, high efficiency building envelope and the heat recovery ventilation system." The heat recovery ventilation system helps keep your home environment healthy and clean by letting in natural air and getting rid of germs. It uses up less energy by using air that is leaving the environment producing heat for fresh air to enter your house during the colder seasons. [2][3]

Study Rooms

[edit]

Skeena has one study room on each floor making it convenient for residence on each floor to access. Skeena also offers two big informal study rooms on the main floor of the building including T.V's, sofas, tables, chairs, and vending machines close by as well as a ping pong table for short study breaks. Students can choose to study, watch movies, play games, hang out with friends, or just relax in the big study rooms. By having these study rooms students can focus and not fall off track easily. It also provides a new space enhancing students motivation to stay on track.[4][5]
