I have compiled a list of suggestions to improve the Open Fracture article and would appreciate community feedback before I proceed with these edits. Here is a list of my suggestions:

  1. I propose to rename the Fracture Management section to "Surgical Management".
  2. I propose to replace the following statement from the Fracture Management section, "Using external fixation or intramedullary rod for open tibial fractures are both equally effective" with "Both reamed and unreamed intramedullary rod nailing are accepted surgical treatments for open tibial fracture. [1] Both intramedullary rod techniques have similar rates of postoperative healing, postoperative infection, implant failure, secondary operation, and compartment syndrome.[1] "
  3. As well, I propose to replace the following statements from the Fracture Management section: "When compared to external fixation, intramedullary rod provides several advantages: better compliance, early weight bearing, and fewer subsequent procedures. Unreamed intramedullary rod is preferred when compared to reamed intramedullary rods because reamed rod can cause a disruption in endosteal blood supply and a more inflammatory responses, thus leading to impaired bone healing and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)" with "Unreamed intramedullary rod nailing (UTN) is advantageous because it has a lower incidence of superficial infection and malunion compared to external fixation. [2] However, UTN can result in high rates of hardware failure if weight bearing after surgery is not closely controlled. [2] Compared to external fixation, UTN has similar rates of deep infection, delayed union and nonunion following surgery. [2]"

Thanks for sharing your proposed changes.

*Watch that your references go immediately after the punctuation you have a few extra spaces above. JenOttawa (talk) 20:31, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

*Also be sure that you add in Wikilinks when appropriate (for example in the text you are replacing for #2)

*I think you are just using quotation marks here to indicate the text you are changing/adding. Be sure to leave them out of the Wikipedia article.

Great work so far!
