John Vining (1724 – November 1770) was a justice of the Delaware Supreme Court from 1764 to 1770.

Appointed October 30, 1764.[1]

Vining was a prominent and successful lawyer and landholder, who served as Speaker of the Colonial Assembly and chief justice of Delaware.

Vining was a good friend of Caesar Rodney, who stood as godfather for his son, John Vining, who became a United States Congressman and Senator. Vining had one other child, a daughter, and died when his children were still young, leaving them a large fortune.
