Description

[edit]

Self-proclaimed as an independent Republic, the Parva Domus is a micronation with social purpose and entertainment. Like other similar, their citizens use titles bombastic and receive “honors” dummy. Has a government with his “cabinet” and a diplomatic body.

Its territory consists of a "Palace Chair", a large mansion of neoclassic style, surrounded by a garden, with trees, statues and "avenues", is located at the intersection of the Boulevard General Artigas and calle Parva Domus was named in his honor.

History

[edit]

Towards 1878 Jose Achinelli I used to go every Sunday to fish in a place called “fish Old” in Punta Carretas, then getting off the tram horses, which until that time came, which, more than once had to help push for having become bogged down, helping drivers John a Cautious and Gregory of Leon, as it was the turn of the morning or night.

Near there were a few small pieces, built for many years, with a floor of dirt, cracked walls, plaster damaged and roofs in a poor state. By that time few people went to these places, except fishermen and washers which, on sunny days, spread out on the grass in the white sheets up to dry.

Tired of the complaints of the passengers from the tram, which took away his galleys, caps, or berets to move the accoutrements of fishing, tired of being forced to carry your hand and arm out of the window, holding the reeds, and the middle world, and tired of not knowing where you hang your frock coat and top hat, learned by Tomás de Tezanos that the buildings that were there the ran Liborio Echavarria, Manager of the Train from the East and rented very cheap.

To rest from the fatigues earlier, leased the room N° 4 on 3 pesos a month. He had been born what would be the Parva Domus. It was more of a place to save the cacharpas and be able to cook a stew.

Several friends were interested in the idea. First of Dionysius, after a Carballo who was auctioneer. Then joined Rius, Curbelo, Riva-Zucchelli, Lamb, Francisco Puyol, owner of the Patisserie Française in Sarandi and Bacacay, Fair, Javier and Venancio Fernandez. He joined John Turenne, customs broker, Machiavello, Mac Lennan, Tajes and Fermin Rojas, alias John Chichizola.

Presidential palace of the republic.

It is said that Riva-Zucchelli, who was an avid reader, I was reading the book “Jack” by Alphonse Daudet , when in his sheets he saw printed the phrase “Parva Domus Magna Quies”. Delighted, he took a coal from the brazier and wrote this sentence on the door of the room N° 4.

It is said that one day two priests went there and saw the phrase “Parva Domus Magna Quies” and translated it as: the House Girl Great Rest. Aware Achinelli of its meaning, it seemed to him that it was deeply appropriate to the feeling that united them. With great joy commanded to write the sentence, not with coal but with paint.

Then came the flag. Achinelli, knowing that in the society had fellow nationalists and colorados , and that, despite this, there were treated as brothers, designed a flag that had a white background for purity, blue stripes by the sea surrounding them and red letters for being the first color of the solar spectrum, giving it to Geronimo Machiavello, alias Guirumín, which he commanded to make.

On the 25th of August, 1878, at 4 in the morning hoisted the flag for the first time in a mast to be placed in front of the farmhouse. That date is taken as the foundation (“independence”) of the Parva Domus.

The Parva Domus grew up. It is rented all the other rooms and, by pulling walls, were a long space to accommodate a group that was a growing.

Like every Republic must have its anthem, the maestro Luis Longhider composed the music of the March Parva Domus and Fermin Rojas wrote his letter, which was sung for the first time by the tenor José Oxilia. Letter that met the ideals parvenses:

March Parva Domus
"Viva Parva Domus

Live the joy

Glory to the famous

Mansion of joy

Great was that day

That impusiste equality

Hold majestic

A scepter glittering

Your face speaks smiling

Of pleasure and of friendship."

Was appointed as director of Fine Arts to the well-known painter Milan Gino Pagano, whose wonderful cartoons of the first citizens and other boxes are filled with the walls of the current building.

It created a museum that holds hundreds of pieces, among which is the Figurehead of the Gunboat General Rivera, built in the School of Arts and Crafts, and invaluable memories of those who shared meetings in the Parva Domus, known as “taken parvenses”.
