Kingsley Lewis Eshun (born 5 July 1999) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays for Leatherhead as a forward. He is a product of the Brentford and Queens Park Rangers academies.

Club career

[edit]

Brentford

[edit]

A forward, Eshun began his youth career at AFC Wembley,[3] before transferring to the academy at Brentford.[4] He was a member of the Bees' U15 squad which won the Junior Globe at the 2014 Milk Cup and he made 8 appearances and scored one goal for the youth team while an U16.[5][6] Eshun signed a two-year scholarship deal at the end of the 2014–15 season and made 15 appearances and scored three goals during 2015–16,[4][7] but was released in May 2016 after the club elected to close its academy.[8]

Queens Park Rangers

[edit]

On 5 September 2016, Eshun joined the academy at Queens Park Rangers on a scholarship deal.[9] He played the first senior football of his career away from Loftus Road on loan to National League South clubs St Albans City and Dulwich Hamlet during the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons respectively.[10][11] Eshun's contract was terminated by mutual consent on 8 January 2019.[12]

Non-League football

[edit]

After failing trials at Carlisle United and Skellefteå FF,[13][14] Eshun dropped into non-League football and played for Isthmian and Southern League clubs Berkhamsted, Northwood, Hendon and Hartley Wintney during the 2019–20 season.[15][16][17][18] He found a home at Hartley Wintney and was a part of the 2020–21 Hampshire Senior Invitational Cup-winning squad.[18][19][20] Due to the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons being disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, he made just 36 appearances, scoring 9 goals during his first two years with the club.[21][22] In the second half of the 2021–22 season, a move to Iceland fell through and Eshun played away on loan at Combined Counties League First Division club Hilltop and Isthmian League Premier Division club Leatherhead.[23][24][25]

Eshunreturned to Hartley Wintney late in the 2021–22 season and scored in the 5–2 Aldershot Senior Cup Final win over Fleet Town on 17 May 2022.[26] Eshun played through until February 2023, when he signed a one-year professional contract with National Premier Leagues Western Australia club Stirling Macedonia.[27][28] He returned to English football with Isthmian League South Central Division club Ashford Town (Middlesex) in January 2024 and made 16 appearances during what remained of the 2023–24 season.[29] Eshun returned to Australia with National Premier Leagues Tasmania club Launceston United for the second half of the 2024 season.[30]

International career

[edit]

Eshun competed for Barawa at the 2018 ConIFA World Football Cup.[31][32]

Personal life

[edit]

Eshun was born in Ghana and is of Somali descent.[19][31] He attended Capital City Academy.[33]
