Dominic Jack Kurasik (born 4 November 1996) is an Australian professional footballer who plays for Abbey Hulton United as a goalkeeper. He is a product of the Stoke City academy.
Career
[edit]Early years
[edit]A goalkeeper, Kurasik began his youth career with hometown club South Melbourne, before moving to England to join the academy at Premier League club Stoke City in September 2011.[3] He progressed through the ranks to be awarded a two-year scholarship in 2013 and he signed a professional contract in June 2015,[3] but was released at the end of the 2015–16 season.[4] While with the Potters he had loan spells in non-League football with Rocester, Alsager Town, Newcastle Town, Congleton Town and Stafford Rangers.[5][6][7][8][9][10]
Brentford
[edit]Kurasik dropped down to the Championship at the end of the 2015–16 season to sign a one-year contract to be a part of the B team at Brentford.[4][11] An injury to second-choice goalkeeper Jack Bonham saw Kurasik called into the first team squad for three matches in August 2016, though he remained an unused substitute on each occasion.[12] He was released at the end of the 2016–17 season.[13]
Colchester United
[edit]On 31 July 2017, Kurasik signed a one-year contract with the U23 team at League Two club Colchester United on a free transfer.[14] On 19 September 2017, Kurasik joined Isthmian League First Division North club Maldon & Tiptree on a one-month work experience loan, which was later extended to January 2018.[15][16] He made 25 appearances during his spell.[17] Kurasik failed to win a call into a first team squad before his release at the end of the 2017–18 season.[18]
Non-League football and return to Australia
[edit]In mid-August 2018, Kurasik joined Northern Premier League First Division West club Kidsgrove Athletic on a free transfer and made 24 appearances during the 2018–19 season.[19][20] He departed the club in January 2019 and returned to Australia to join Victorian State League Division 1 North-West club Preston Lions,[21][22][23][24] with whom he won the division championship.[25] Kurasik rejoined Kidsgrove Athletic in October 2019 and made just four appearances during what remained of the truncated 2019–20 season,[20][26] which included a loan spell at North West Counties League Premier Division club Hanley Town.[27] He was retained for the 2020–21 season,[28] but transferred to Northern Premier League First Division South East club Newcastle Town in August 2020.[29] Kurasik played on until October 2021,[30][31] before playing much of the remainder of the 2021–22 season on loan at North West Counties League First Division South club Abbey Hulton United.[32][33][34][35] He transferred to the club on a permanent basis in July 2022.[36] He made 41 appearances during the 2022–23 season and began the 2023–24 season as goalkeeping coach at Northern Premier League First Division West club Leek Town.[32][37]
Personal life
[edit]Kurasik is of Polish descent.[38]
