Daniel David Parish (born 18 October 1998) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays as a forward for Sittingbourne.

Clayton is a product of the Brentford academy and rose to prominence as a prolific goalscorer for Isthmian League clubs Thamesmead Town, Ashford United and Maldon & Tiptree.

Career

[edit]

Brentford

[edit]

A forward, Parish began his career with Longfield Tigers and Bexley and moved into the academy at Brentford at U15 level.[2][3] He progressed to sign a two-year scholarship deal at the end of the 2014–15 season and top scored for the youth team during 2015–16,[4] with 10 goals.[5] The closure of the academy at the end of the 2015–16 season meant that Parish was promoted to the club's new B team and signed his first professional contract.[6][7] He had scored 11 goals in 33 appearances during two seasons with the youth team.[5][8] Despite making regular B team appearances during the 2016–17 season, Parish was released at the end of the campaign.[9]

Non-League football

[edit]

2017–2019

[edit]

Parish joined National League South club Concord Rangers on a free transfer in September 2017.[10] He made three appearances for the club before moving to Isthmian League South Division club Thamesmead Town.[11] He showed prolific goalscoring form and finished the 2017–18 season with 21 goals from 34 appearances.[12] After Thamesmead Town's closure in October 2018 and its record was expunged,[13] Parish moved across the Isthmian League South East Division to join Ashford United.[14] He scored 24 goals in 28 appearances during the remainder of the 2018–19 season and was a part of the team which reached the Isthmian League South East Division play-off Final.[15]

2019–2022

[edit]

Parish departed Ashford United in June 2019 and joined Isthmian League North Division club Maldon & Tiptree prior to the beginning of the 2019–20 season.[16][17] In a season ended prematurely by the COVID-19 pandemic,[18] he scored 30 goals in 38 appearances.[17] On 4 July 2020, it was announced that Parish had transferred to National League club Wealdstone.[19] Either side of two months out with a hamstring injury,[20] he made 29 appearances and scored seven goals during the 2020–21 season and was retained for 2021–22.[21][22]

Lacking fitness after suffering an injury during the 2021-22 pre-season,[23] Parish joined National League South club Billericay Town on a one-month loan on 24 August 2021.[24] Injury prevented him from winning a call into a matchday squad during his spell.[25] After returning to fitness,[26] he transferred to National League South club Welling United in late October 2021.[27] Following one goal in 12 appearances,[21] Parish transferred to Isthmian League South East Division club Hastings United in late February 2022 and contributed 9 appearances and four goals to the club's successful title push.[28][29][30]

2022–2024

[edit]

Despite being retained by Hastings United for the 2022–23 season,[31] Parish transferred across the Isthmian League Premier Division to sign for Canvey Island in August 2022.[32] Following just four goals in 22 appearances by 6 December 2022,[33] Parish returned to Ashford United and signed a contract running until the end of the 2022–23 season.[34] He finished the campaign with 21 appearances and eight goals.[35] Parish scored 10 goals in 24 appearances during the first half of the 2023–24 season, prior to his release in January 2024.[36][37] Within days, he transferred to division rivals Sittingbourne and made 12 appearances, scoring six goals, during the remainder of the 2023–24 season.[38][39] Parish missed the club's unsuccessful playoff campaign and was retained for the 2024–25 season.[40]

Injury saw Parish miss the opening 2+12 months of the 2024-25 season and in late October 2024,[41] he joined Isthmian League South East Division rivals Hythe Town on loan, to gain match fitness.[42]
