Storage King UK[3] is a British real estate investment trust based in Middlesex, England.[4] It was founded in 2004 and acquired by Stor-Age Property REIT Limited, South Africa’s largest self storage company, in 2017.[5][6].

Storage King UK was founded in Birmingham, England in 2004. The company originally developed in the South and South East England, and later expanded to the Midlands and North England. Since 2009, Storage King has been headed by British senior executive Robin Greenwood, who also served as CEO for Extra Space Europe and was Shurguard UK's Vice President[7]. Since June 2015, the company has sponsored the Gloucester Rugby Team[8]. In September 2017, The South Africa self storage company "Stor-Age" used the £73.26 million that it raised through an oversubscribed bookbuild to acquire Storage King UK for £77.13 million.[9][10] Storage King UK was the sixth largest self storage company in the United Kingdom at the time of its acquisition and had a portfolio which included 25 properties (13 directly owned, 12 owned by franchisees)[11].
Community Involvement[edit]
Storage King participated in a "Wave of Gratitude" campaign in 2018.[12][13] This campaign acknowledges the women who contributed to their communities in World War I and is part of the Royal Legion's "Thank You" campaign to celebrate the centenary of World War I. Storage King is seeking stories about local heroines at the time of this article's writing. It will then post the submissions that it selects on a banner which will hang from its location at Unit 8 Ionic Park on Birmingham New Road.[14]
In 2018, Storage King UK sponsored the 2018 Woodley Carnival.[15]

In December 2015, Storage King UK won the Charity Initiative Award at the annual FEDESSA European Conference & Trade Show.[16][17]Storage King UK received another award and the succeeding FEDESSA European Conference & Trade Show when Storage King UK employee Richard Locke received this trade conference's "Manager of the Year" award.[18]
