Vere Henry Louis Foster (25 April 1819 – 21 December 1900) was an Anglo-Irish philanthropist and educationalist. He was the first president of the Irish National Teachers Organisation. In 1841 he secured a post at the British Foreign Office and took part in Sir Henry Ellis's mission to Rio de Janeiro in 1842 and from 1843 to 1847 was in Monte Video with Sir William Ousley. In 1847, he was appointed as a paid attaché in Buenos Aires. He is most notable however for his charitable work and educational reform in Ireland.
