From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

India competed at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships held in Lyon, France, from 20 to 28 July 2013. The delegation of India consisted of 10 athletes, all qualified for the Championships with the 'A' standard. This was a increase in the number of athletes from the nation's last appearance at the Championships, when five athletes were sent to the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand. 2004 Summer Paralympics gold medallist in javelin throw, Devendra Jhajharia, became the first Indian to ever win a World Championship medal in athletics. None of the rest nine athletes, including the 2012 Summer Paralympics silver medallist in high jump Girisha Hosanagara Nagarajegowda, did not win any medals.

Delegation[edit]

A delegation of 10 para athletes was "sanctioned" by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to participate in the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships. All the athletes were qualified with the A standard.[1]
