Early life

Bauër in 1871

Bauër was born from the extramarital affair of Alexandre Dumaswith Anna Bauër, a German woman of Jewish origin, whom he met in 1850. Dumas never recognized his illegitimate son, despite the similarity of their appearances. His mother - Anna Bauer (Anna Bauër) was the wife of the Austrian sales agent Karl-Anton Bauer, who lived with his family at that time in Paris . After the emigration of Karl-Anton Bauer to Australia , the child lived with his mother, who, thanks to a successful business and care, managed to provide for the upbringing and education of her son.

He studied in Lycée Louis-le-Grand. After graduating, Bauër made an attempt to get a medical and legal education, to no avail.
