Boombotix is a portable speaker company, located in the Mission District of San Francisco, California.

Boombotix products have their roots in active lifestyle and action sports, such as biking, skateboarding, skiing, and snowboarding. They produce two speakers, both of which fall under the "Boombot" product line. The first speaker is the BB1 (Boombot 1), features 94-decibel maximum volume, a 6 hour lithium-ion rechargeable battery, water-resistance, and a drop-tested shell. They also have a clip to attach to your clothing or backpack. The BB2 (Boombot 2) combines the features of the BB1 with bluetooth wireless audio playback. The BB2 can be paired with a bluetooth-enabled device, such as an iPhone, or Android devices.

The company is currently privately owned, backed by private equity angel investors including Chet Thomas[1], founder and brand manager for Darkstar Skateboards. The company is currently led by CEO Lief Storer, who plays a key role in product development.

The company was founded around taking an urban vinyl designer toy and turning it into a loudspeaker. The original prototype was made from the actual toy with a built-in iHome audio portable speaker and a Motorola walkie talkie clip. The product went into mass production in April 2010. The original Boombot line was initially branded as "SkullyBoom", until March 2011 when headphone manufacturer, Skullcandy appealed the trademark[2] for fear that the Skullyboom mark was too close to their mark. The company quickly rebranded as Boombotix following the trademark appeal.
