Gina Mastrogiacomo was born on November 5, 1961 in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, and had three sisters. At 18, she moved to New York. On May 2, 2001, she died in California at the age of 39 as a result of a bacterial infection of the heart.

She made her film debut in 1989 as Ginny in the science fiction film Alien Terror by Richard W. Haines. Among the best-known films of the actress the following year the role of Janice Rossi in Martin Scorsese's film Good Fellas - Three decades in the Mafia (1990) in which she plays the lover of Henry Hill. A year later, she was cast by Spike Lee as Louise in the movie Jungle Fever , and in the same year she played the role of Monique De Carlo in David Zucker's The Naked Cannon 2½ (both 1991). There followed several television productions.
