From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AfD (articles for deletion) is one of the best places to learn about how Wikipedia policy works, and to learn what kinds of articles are ok on Wikipedia and what kinds aren't. So, participating in discussions there helps develop your understanding of Wikipedia policy.

Preparation

[edit]

Look at Wikipedia:Deletion policy. You should also have read all the basic pages in the other exercises on your coaching page (WP:What Wikipedia is not, WP:Notability, etc.).

Task

[edit]
  • Every day that you are on Wikipedia, go to the current day's AfD discussions and choose one that interests you.
  • Read the nominator's statement (the reason he/she thinks the article should be deleted), at least skim the other comments in the discussion, and take a look at the article.
  • Then come back here and, in the section below, create a new bullet point with the date, a link to the AfD page, and an explanation of how you would !vote if you were participating in the discussion. I will then look at what you put here and give you feedback (whether or not I agree with your vote, if there is anything you didn't notice, etc.).
