Biography
[edit]David Grabias (born July 15, 1969) is a noted documentary filmmaker and one of the early pioneers of "documarketing", or using documentary to generate interest in a product, organization or entertainment property.
career
[edit]Grabias has written, directed and produced documentary television programs that have aired internationally on PBS, A&E, Discovery, FX, Travel Channel, and National Geographic.
He received Emmy nominations for "Sentenced Home", which aired on PBS and premiered at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Discovery Channel's "Why Dogs Smile And Chimpanzees Cry".
documarketing
[edit]Grabias founded Los Angeles-based Artifact Studios in 2001 to provide entertainment companies with marketing media created by documentary television professionals. His studio has generated a number of one-hour documentary television specials that focus on the real subject of an upcoming Hollywood film, from seeing the future (“Premonition”), to exorcism (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose”) to vampires (Sony's “Underworld” franchise). He and his studio also produce behind-the-scenes documentaries for movies and video games, and create documentary media for museums and corporations.
