Artistic work

[edit]

Radek Brož's artistic opinion was formed not only by his education at the Faculty of Education of Charles University, but also by his own study of the history of fine arts, as well as by his friendship with personalities such as Adriena Šimotová or Václav Boštík.

In the early days of his work, Radek Brož was inspired by the aesthetics of pop-art, especially Andy Warhol.

At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, he began to be inspired by folk art with religious motifs.

A substantial part of Radek Brož's work was inspired by Marian themes. He created a Marian cycle of 52 monotypes in which he works with the Marian monogram.

Starting from the 1990s, Radek Brož also began to construct objects, especially made of wood, with religious themes and accompanied by more or less extensive texts.

Together with his wife Alena and the Czech historian Tomáš Edel, he mapped the phenomenon of Gothic templates in Czech, German and Austrian localities. In this context, the most extensive work of Radek Brož was created - an evocation of a medieval burgher room in the Podještědské muzeum in Český Dub, which is decorated with copies of Gothic templates.
