There are many different types of destroyer ships in World War I. Such as, the HMS Archer, the HMS Attack, the HMS Flirt, and the HMS Flying Fish. The HMS Archer was an Acheron-class destroyer built in 1911. Archer used steam at higher pressures than the other Acheron-class destroyers, so it went faster. It carried two 4-inch guns, 21-inch guns, torpedo tubes, and had a 70 men. Archer was attached to the Grand Fleet in August 1914, and then to the Third Battle Squadron in 1916. The HMS Attack was another destroyer ship. It was made in 1911. Attack is a c-class ship. It was in the Battle of Heligoland Bight on August 28, 1914. A torpedo struck Attack amidships and it blew into two pieces, it sank seven minutes. The Attack’s bunkers started spilling a lot of black bunker fuel oil into the sea as it sank. The HMS Flirt was a three funnel destroyer. It was a c-class ship. On October 27, 1916, the German Navy attacked the Dover Barrage with two torpedo boats and destroyers. The Germans immediately fired at Flirt and it sank. Lastly, there was the HMS Flying Fish. It was a c-class ship. The Flying Fish was a three funnel destroyer. The Flying Fish had patrol duties, which meant that it kept watch over other ships.
