From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Youth Rights Day is an annual event intended to focus national attention on youth rights in the United States. The first celebration of this day will take place on April 14, 2010, which is also the birth date of the late John Holt (educator), a pioneer in America's modern homeschooling movement.

National Youth Rights Day was founded by American psychologist Robert Epstein, founder of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies and former editor-in-chief of Psychology Today magazine, and Alex Koroknay-Palicz, executive director of the National Youth Rights Association. Sponsoring organizations include the National Youth Rights Association, the Community Alliance for the Ethical Treatment of Youth, Americans for a Society Free from Age Restrictions, the Youth Activism Project, Advocates of the New Young Person, The Freechild Project, The Grupo Amistad Vision, and YouthFacts.org.
