Chander Kant Sharma (CK Sharma)[edit]

Chander Kant Sharma (born 14 January 1954) is the Business Head (BH) and Director of Dharampal Satyapal Limited, a diversified FMCG conglomerate in India. He is widely recognized for his contribution to the industry and shaping the company’s transformation in recent years.

Early life[edit]

CK completed his MBA from YMCA Delhi in 1974. In 2006 he completed his executive Masters in International Business at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. He went on to complete his LLM in International Trade from the Indian Law Institute in 2007. In 2017 he received his PhD in Trade Marketing from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.

Career[edit]

1976 - 2004[edit]

CK was the Vice President, Trade Marketing & Distribution at VST Industries Limited, an associate of British American Tobacco and a public conglomerate. Prior to this role, CK held the position of VP Corporate Affairs. He was the core member of the Corporate Executive Committee, and was instrumental in the company's turnaround through sustained revenue generation and increasing operational efficiencies.

2007 - 2009[edit]

Between 2007 and 2009 CK remained the Deputy Director of the Tobacco Institute of India, which is a Representative body of cigarette manufacturers, exporters and farmers’ association in India. In this position, CK coordinated the Policy Development with Government of india for meaningful regulation.

2009 - Present[edit]

In 2009 CK was appointed as Business Head and Director of Dharampal Satyapal Limited and has been responsible for the company’s strategic direction and diversification into new categories. Under his leadership, DS Group has launched industry-changing brands like Pulse Candy and revitalized the Rajnigandha brand with the launch of Silver Pearls, for which actress Priyanka Chopra is the current brand ambassador. Brands like Pass Pass have also been awarded for Excellence. At the Brand Owner's Summit in 2015, CK is quoted as saying "Change and looking at new businesses is important. It is crucial to revisit the mantras and innovation". CK is a big supporter of using brands to leverage value creation in the market[1].
