Washington NGA 1970 (Cassatt) refers to a major retrospective exhibition of the work of the American painter, printmaker, pastelist, and connoisseur Mary Cassatt that was held at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, from September 27, 1970, through November 8, 1970. It was curated by Adelyn D. Breeskin.

When Mary Cassatt returned home from Paris at the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war, she asked Mrs. Currey to pose for her and gave her the sketch. Superimposed (the canvas turned upside down) is a sketch of her father.
8 51 1878-79 - Woman Reading, (oil on canvas, 32 in × 23.5 in), Joslyn Art Museum The sitter is generally identified as Cassatt's sister Lydia. The exhibition catalogue titles it Portrait of Lydia Cassatt, the Artist's Sister, and notes there is another version elaborated by a view through a window. The museum page comments that the heightened coloration and loose brushwork is consistent with Impressionism, and that the influence of photography and Japanese prints can be seen in the cropping and diagonal composition.
15 64 1879 - Woman with a Pearl Necklace in a Loge, (oil on canvas, 32 in × 23.5 in), Philadelphia Museum of Art The subject is generally identified as Lydia. The painting was shown at the Fourth Impressionist Exhibition of 1879.
