India Power India Power Corporation Limited is a power generation, distribution and utilities company based primarily out of eastern India. Formerly known as DPSC Limited, incorporated in 1919, is an ISO-9001-2008 certified company with footprints in conventional and renewable forms of energy. With a total generation capacity of 540MW for thermal power and 100.2MW for wind power energy IPCL is firmly placed as a power generation, distribution and utilities company growing towards becoming a market leader in its segment. Operations Major Power Plants India Power Corporation (Bodh Gaya) Ltd Recent developments include the granting of the distribution franchisee for Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Manpur and its adjoining areas by The South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited. India Power Corporation (Bodh Gaya) Limited has been formed to meet the needs of more than 1,00,000 consumers in these areas, with varied requirements including agricultural, commercial and domestic loads. India Power Corporation (Haldia) Ltd India Power Corporation (Haldia) Ltd. has been promoted to contribute to the power requirements of the state of West Bengal. Incorporated in April 2008, it is setting up a 450 MW (3x150 MW) coal based power plant at Haldia at an estimated cost of Rs.2500 crores. India Power Corporation (Haldia) Ltd. has also been devised to provide/sell surplus power to several large and medium scale industries at Haldia and outside. The first, second and third units of the power plant are expected to be commissioned soon. Power Distribution: IPCL has distribution business has an experience of more than 95 years, having receiving stations with both DVC & WBSEDCL, as well as more than 20 own strategic distribution sub-stations at 33/11 KV is distributing power across all industries within 618 sq.km of Asansol-Raniganj area. IPCL has commissioned a 220 KV substation at J.K. Nagar within the license area to enable State Grid (STU) Connectivity. Supplying power to the coal mines of ECL, government hospitals, municipality, railways & others, the distribution license is considered the lifeline of industrial growth in the area.

Future Projects • Construction of J.K. Nagar 220/33 KV Substation with installation of 2 Nos. of 100 MVA 33/11 KV Transformer to be made operational within Jan, 2013. • Construction of 220 KV Double Circuit Transmission line connecting State Grid and J.K. Nagar Substation • Installation of Area Load Despatch Center at J.K. Nagar 220 KV Substation. • Construction of 400/220/132/33 KV Substation at Chalbalpur by drawing 400 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line from the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) - work will commence soon. • Construction of 33/11 KV Substation at Ningha, Dhadka, Chalbalpur, Bhamuria and associated 33 KV & 11 KV network by 2012-13.

Green Initiative

The Government of India had set up a certification process for a clean energy sector. The purchase of these certificates by the power distribution companies would assist them in meeting their Renewable Portfolio Obligation (RPO) as per the Electricity Act-2003.

Solar Power: IPCL obtained RPO* certificate (Renewable Portfolio Obligation) by installing 2MW Grid Solar PV Power Plant on 8.3 acres of Company’s land at Jamuria, previously Seebpore Power Station in Asansol, West Bengal. The first grid-connected Solar PV Project in this country was started in this power plant generating 3.3 million units of electricity. The plant started generating power from the year 2009. This plant is considered largest power plant all over South East Asia. Wind: IPCL started the generation of wind power in a massive and effective way in the year 2006. Till 2012 a total installed capacity of 100MW spread over Gujarat, Karnataka and Rajasthan in India.
