Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr. (born 1944) is a prominent Filipino industrial engineer, businessman, business leader, director of companies, politician, and altruist. Del Rosario was one of the establishers of the frontrunning conglomerates in the Philippines. In 2007, he was identified by Forbes Asia magazine as one of the Philippines' 40 richest persons, estimating his net worth at the time at US $137 million.[1] As one of the leading altruists in Asia,[2] Del Rosario is a visionary and planner of providing affordable education and housing for the poor in the Philippines.[3]
Family background
[edit]Del Rosario, Jr. is the son of Filipino businessman Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr., the cofounder of the Philippine Investment Management, Inc. (PHINMA). Del Rosario, Jr. has six children.[1]
Education
[edit]Graduating with Magna cum Laude honors, Del Rosario received his Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, BSC-Accounting and Commerce and AB-Social Sciences degrees from De La Salle College (now known as De La Salle University, Incorporated) in 1967.[4] Del Rosario received his MBA degree from the Harvard Business School in 1969.[4]
Business career

[edit]Del Rosario is the president and chief executive officer of PHINMA, an investment company that was cofounded by his father, and a firm that holds the Philippine franchise of Microtel Inns & Suites, a chain of hotels from the Unites States.[1][4] Del Rosario was the president of the Microtel Development Corporation. Since 2003, Del Rosario served as the president and vice chairman of the Bacnotan Consolidated Industries, Inc.[4]
As company director
[edit]Del Rosario was the director of companies including Ayala Land, Holcim Philippines, Roxas Holdings, and PSi Technologies.[1] Since 2010, Del Rosario acted as the independent director, in conjunction with being the chairman of the Personnel and Compensation Committee, as well as being the chairman of the Nomination Committee, and as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Ayala Corporation.[4] Since 2006, Del Rosario was the independent director of eTelecare Global Solutions, Inc.[4]
As chief financial officer
[edit]Del Rosario was the chief financial officer of San Miguel Corporation.[1]
As company chairman
[edit]Since July 2002, Del Rosario was acting as the the chairman and chief executive officer of multiple companies in the Philippines. The companies Del Rosario chaired include the AB Capital and Investment Corporation,[4] the chairman of Paramount Building Management, the United Pulp and Paper Co., Inc., the Microtel Inns and Suites (Pilipinas), Inc., the CIP II Power Corp., the Trans-Asia Gold and Minerals Development Corp., the Stock Transfer Services Inc., the Araullo University, the Cagayan de Oro College, and the chairman of the Makati Business Club.[4]
Political career
[edit]Del Rosario acted as the Secretary of Finance for the Philippine government from 1992 to 1993.[1][4]
