Jimmy Davis (Artist/Activist) ...

James Davis, also known by his stage name of 'Jimmy Davis' is a emcee/musician and activist from the city of Birmingham in the UK.

Similar to artists such as Immortal Techinique and Lowkey, it is hard to differentiate the music and musician from his work. Davis is an active Youth Mentor and Community Outreach Worker in his native city, as well as a highly successful musician who uses his music as a platform to address the wider social issues he encounters in his day to day work.

Davis's musical accolades include airplay on Huw Stevens' Radio 1 show, a nationwide tour with cart-topping band Nizlopi and standout sets at Glastonbury Festival and Artsfest - Birmingham's city-wide culture and arts celebration. His first album "Belief, Passion, Commitment" received glowing reviews from, among others, Davis's friend and rising star Ed Sheeran.

In 2007 Davis was recognised by Inside Housing, the UK's leading social housing publication, placing him as runner up in the 'Frontline Service Individual of the Year' category. A press release from Solihull Community Housing acknowledging Davis's achievement reported that Davis had "impressed judges with the innovative way he uses his talent as a rapper to reach out to young people."

In addition to his current work with the Birmingham branch of Positive Futures, a home office funded national youth crime prevention programme, Jimmy Davis will be launching his second album with a national tour in the early summer of 2012.
