The Rann of Kutch arbitration was an arbitration case between India and Pakistan to settle a boundary dispute in the Rann of Kutch.

Background

After the partition of British India, British Sind Province became a part of newly created Dominion of Pakistan and Cutch State, a princely state part of the Western India States Agency within the Bombay Presidency, acceded to the Dominion of India.

Tribunal

The Indo-Pakistan Western Boundary Case Tribunal was constituted pursuant to the agreement between two countries on 30 June 1965. India was represented by Special Secretary to the Ministry of Law Bhimji Narayanarao Lokur as agent, Joint Secretary and legal adviser to the Ministry of External Affairs K. Krishnna Rao as deputy agent and assisted by the Attorney General of India C. K. Daphtary as the leading counsel. Pakistan was represented by the Chairman of West Pakistan Public Service Commission I. U. Khan as agent, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shahid M. Amin as deputy agent and assisted by a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of Pakistan Manzur Qadir as the leading counsel.

Award

The tribunal awarded its decision on 19 February 1968.
