Jean Pinkham (born Jean Anne Drever, 6 May 1849[1] – 1 February 1940) was a Canadian community organizer. in 1883 she was a founding member of the Women's Hospital Aid Society in Winnipeg, Manitoba, created to assist the Winnipeg General Hospital. She assisted in opening a branch of the National Council of Women of Canada in 1894, a chapter of the Victorian Order of Nurses in 1909, and the Alberta chapter of the Canadian Red Cross Society.
Early life
[edit]Jean was born in Lower Fort Garry, Manitoba on 6 May 1849. Her father, William Drever, worked for the Hudson's Bay Company before becoming a merchant in 1851.[1] Jean was one of six children, and studied at a boarding school.[1]
