About me

[edit]

I am a researcher in my spare time, and work at a Special Collections reference desk. I am currently a full time student studying classical Greece and Rome for my undergraduate degree. Though my education is primarily centered around the ancient Mediterranean, my current interests are the Mabinogion and related characters, the Ulster Cycle, and cannibalism at sea. As of now I am working on improving stub articles, and providing citation sources for each page. There are, however, a number of battles and historical texts that do not have a Wikipedia page and I would like to create those pages if I get time.

Possible Bias & lack of knowledge

[edit]

I strive to ensure that my edits are as unbiased as is possible, but occasionally personal bias that I am unaware of may slip through the cracks. Please notify me so I may become aware of my personal biases. I do not know of any conflicts of interest I may have related to my current focus of Wikipedia, as I am American and have never eaten anyone. However, you may notice Gaeilge is not on my language list, yet my interests center around Irish kingship. While I am fairly certain my research is comprehensive and consistent, I cannot say the same for my knowledge of the original texts in their oldest form. If you are knowledgeable in Gaeilge or middle Irish and your Wikipedia edits center on the same things mine do, please consider taking a look at my work and making sure that it is accurate. I try my best, but without access and knowledge to read the texts in their untranslated form, I can never be sure of complete accuracy. In addition to this, many of the secondary sources I read are also translated from their original Irish. Though I am working on learning Gaeilge to better edit and improve Wikipedia, learning languages takes time, and to learn a language to a scholarly level can take years.
