Career
[edit]João Guilherme began his acting career in 2009, at age 7, giving life to the character Vinícius in the short filme Vento, along with Vivianne Pasmanter. In 2012, he starred on the movie My Sweet Orange Tree,[1] , an adaptation of José Mauro de Vasconcelos' classic, interpreting Zezé. His music career began while playing Joaquim in Cúmplices de um Resgate (Friends to the Rescue), a Brazilian teen telenovela, aired in 2015. Therefore, in 2015, he debuted with the song Princesa (Princess); this song, along with Tudo É Você (Everything is About You), was part of Cúmplices de um Resgate's soundtrack. In the same year, Ávila played Jarbas in the movie Entrando numa Roubada.
In August 2016, he launched his debut album, entitled Meu Caminho (My Way), with 10 copywright songs[2]. Having new songs, an improved structure and a band, João began the Mega Tour JG. Around Christmas of 2016, he released a Christmas music video Meu Pedido (My Wish). In 2017, his new EP, João Guilherme, Vol II[3], was released with 4 songs. In the same year, he voiced Rony, in the third franchise of the Russian movie, The Snow Queen. By the end of 2017, João Guilherme played Nando in Fala Sério, Mãe!, the movie adaptation of Thalita Rebouças's book. In October 2018, he went back to the movie screens, bringing another character from the author to life, as Slack, in the movie Tudo por um Popstar (Everything for a Popstar).
Still in 2016, he released his biography João Sendo João - Meu Mundo (João being João: My World). The high sale of the book placed João in Forbes' Under 30 list, on the Literature category. In 2017, Ávila published his second biography João Guilherme na Estrada (João Guilherme on the Road), which gathers his diaries from his trips and testimonies from fans and important people in his life. On the 8th edition of Hortolendo, an event from the city Hortolândia, he donated several copies of the book in exchange of food donations for the comunity.
In June 2018, he released the single Manual;[4][5] right after the release, he began the Tour Manual.[6] Since 2018, João is part of the cast of the telenovela As Aventuras de Poliana (Poliana's Adventures), on the channel SBT, interpreting Luca[7]. The character, just like João, has a YouTube channel.
Personal life
[edit]João Guilherme is the youngest child of the singer Leonardo, from his relationship with Naíra Ávila; his brothers, Zé Felipe and Pedro Leonardo[8], are also singers.
