John E. Havelock died 2021 was the Attorney General of Alaska from 1970 to 1973. He also was a professor at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
Early life and career
[edit]Havelock was born in Toronto and graduated from Harvard and earned a doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1959.
Following his graduation, Havelock moved to Alaska to work in the attorney general's office. After a stint working in the Lyndon Johnson administration, he was tapped by Governor Bill Egan to serve as attorney general. As attorney general, Havelock worked with state senator Terry Miller to draft the state's privacy amendment.
