• 1832 Joel Goldschmidt establishes the "Zoo" near Bordeaux, France and presumably begins "Joel's Diary". The mummy of an unknown life-form is brought to the zoo and dubbed "SAYA". Extracted from its pregnant belly are two cocoons, which react to drops of human blood. Extracted from the cocoons are two children that are human in appearance. As an experiment, the two are given different growth environments in order to observe their growth difference. Joel chooses to raise one, which he names Saya, like his own daughter. The other is left unnamed and is locked up in a tower, where Joel's assistant Amshel takes care of her only giving her the minimum necessary to live. Sometime after this Amshel becomes Diva's first Chevalier.

Another consideration. Unfortunately can't check it right now with the official site, but does it really state that after 1883 humans turned into beasts started to appear? Is there any statement about the exact beginning of Chiroptera sightings? I thought that unlike Chevaliers humans had been turned to mindless monsters with some extraction from Diva's blood which probably was discovered during some research like Delta 67. But we know that Delta 67 was discovered much later. Could it be that the mission of Red Shield was just to eliminate Diva at first? Is there any mention at all what makes a human into a Chiropteran beside Delta 67? It's just an idea, can't think of any proof right now, have to watch the series, but could it be that Chiropterans started to appear during the Vietnam war for the first time? I don't really know. I just translated it from the Japanese version, but wasn't quite sure what it said as my Japanese is not that great. So it's just my best guess. Oh, i can see it now. It's really unclear what they mean by that. It says that "incidents when the dead began to arise and kill people occured frequently. Later on they were called yokushu." Nothing like "shortly after" or "later on", no indication on time at all. Anyway, i think that viewing the series once again might help to prove it right or wrong, or at least to clarify it a bit.

• End of the 19th century Saya suddenly enters into a 30-year period of hibernation - something that never happened while they were at the Zoo.
• Early 20th century Saya awakens. Saya and Haji pursue Diva and Chiroptera in Russia.
• 1914 World War I begins.
• 1917 The Russian Revolution breaks out. Around this time, Amshel makes Solomon, a physician, into one of Diva's Chevalier. Karl also becomes one of Diva's Chevalier.
• 1918 Diva impersonates the 4th Russian Grand Duchess, Anastasia. During this time, Saya kills Diva's Chevalier, Grigori, and then enters her second hibernation. World War I ends.

It's a bit mixed up, don't you think? I mean that firstly Diva was impersonating Anastasia. Then Saya killed her Chevalier Grigory. Then both queens entered hibernation (Diva was sleepy too when Saya fought Grigory). I switched the order - does that help? I don't remember whether the anime said Diva entered hibernation at this time or not. Could you give me the episode number where they say this? Saya cuts off Karl and Haji's right arms. Saya re-enters hibernation and the dying original David entrusts her to George Miyagusuku. Haji, displeased by the incident, distances himself from Red Shield. Red Shield sights him in Hong Kong, but is unable to keep track of his whereabouts. George takes Saya to Okinawa.
• 1975 The Vietnam War ends.
• 2002 The 6th Joel is inaugurated as the head of Red Shield.
• 2004 Saya awakens in Okinawa without her previous memories. She lives with the Miyagusuku Family, under the surveillance of the 2nd David, with the agreement that once Saya remembers her past, she will go with Red Shield.
• 2005 Saya reunites with Haji and is caught up with the fight against Chiroptera. George Miyagusuku becomes a Chiropteran and Saya is forced to kill him. Leaving Kai and Riku behind, Haji and Saya once again ally themselves with Red Shield. Diva awakens soon after.

• 2006 Diva and Karl launch an attack on the Red Shield Headquarters. Diva rapes and kills Riku amidst the assault. Karl injures Joel's spine, confining him to a wheelchair thereafter. Red Shield self-destructs their command ship in an attempt to take down Diva.
• 2007 Chiroptera are sighted in London. Karl disobeys Diva to fight Saya, but ends up losing his life. Solomon betrays Diva by repeatedly warning Saya of Diva's plans and eventually leaves Diva, no longer wishing to be her Chevalier. Saya tracks the Chiropteran to an Air Force base in North Carolina, and pursues Diva to New York City. D67 is used in food spread throughout the world. In New York City, Diva, James and Amshel are finally killed. Haji goes missing, and Kai and Saya return to Okinawa along with everyone left alive. She then falls into her fifth hibernation. Kai carries her into his family's grave, where George had placed Saya during her previous hibernation.
