World Plus was founded in 2018 on the initiative of Kh. Erdenebayar (Ebe). It is the largest representative company of the new era of digital magazines. The company differs from print and other types of PDF magazines in that it breaks with the traditional style of reading digital magazines and introduces full interactivity and innovative technological solutions. World Plus is the world's largest digital directory of the world's best magazines and currently works with more than 100 top publishers and magazines in seven languages, including Harper's Bazaar, Top Gear, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Vogue, GQ.
History[edit]
Erdenebayar (Ebe) started the company in 2014 with the desire to become a key player in the international digital magazine market. In today's fast-paced digital world and the rapidly changing media industry, traditional forms of media have made its shift into the digital space worldwide. Television has become a demand-driven, user based service, and newspapers have turned into websites even formatting to a radio podcast. However the print magazine industry has experienced a slow start to the new market. In response, World Plus has been founded to bridge such gaps.
While studying at the Metropolitan University of London in the UK, Ebe began his career in digital journalism with his peers by using a variety of softwares and experimenting with creating digital magazines. Although there was a lack of software resources available to them and it was difficult to create a magazine with interactive solutions, Ebe’s drive to continue in hopes of creating a digital space that would meet the standards of today’s youth with a full interactive experience has made World Plus what it is today.
Due to the lack of direct access to applications and platforms developed by Mongolian youth for international users, and the need for an example prototype to present to collaborative publishers, Woovoo was developed and tested to create manuals for cities around the world. Through the duration of the project, they learnt that they should be focused on providing the platform rather than being the content creator themselves. Then the M+ application was introduced to Mongolia, tested for a year, and was launched into the international market under the name of World Plus (W+). [1]
As a result of this five-year work, the soft launch application was launched in July 2019 at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore and was presented to major players in the Asian press market. As the pilot design continues to improve, the final product is ready to be delivered to consumers, and the official launch of the World Plus application took place in October 2019 at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. [2] [3] [4]
[edit]
It takes time for a technology-based business to meet ends with its unique characteristics. It is unconventional for a business such as World Plus to approach Mongolian businessmen and investors. Due to Mongolia's challenging financial situation and the lack of lending to technology based businesses, Ebe has been able to secure its success by funding alone and borrowing at high interest rates from individuals when needed. After gaining international recognition, individuals and companies began garnering interest in financing and becoming shareholders of World Plus. Hakuho Sho the historical record breaking Japanese sumo wrestler, Kimura Motoharu the owner of Kimura Construction Company, Shinichi Iwamoto the director of Chikujin Group, and S.Purevjav, a Mongolian citizen, have invested in the company and become shareholders. [5]
Collaborators[edit]
World Plus was able to attract the attention of Singapore Press Holding with the aesthetics and visual design the company provided. With that the two companies came together to a contractual agreement in February of 2020 to introduce the application, MyNewsstand+ to the South East Asian market and have been working together since its launch in July of the same year.
Z holdings Weibo signed an agreement with World Plus in May 2020 to set up a joint venture in the markets of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Activities[edit]
The magazine market is made up of three main players: publishers, readers, and advertisers, and for World Plus, the WIN-WIN-WIN triangle, or each participant offers a profitable option. 1. For publishers, there is a need for many people to read the magazine at a low cost, and World Plus offers publishers a free, fully interactive magazine, as well as products that allow them to read, listen, watch and subscribe. Many of the problems faced by publishers, such as printing, delivery, sales costs and lost time, are addressed through technological advances. [6] 2. World Plus allows readers to read magazines from anywhere in the world, at any time. In addition to fully addressing the challenges of reading print magazines, such as storage, depreciation, and high prices, we also offer readers interactive, technologically unique solutions to meet the rapid development of the digital age. 3. For advertisers, World Plus offers interactive features not available in print and pdf magazines. The magazine has found a solution to segment advertising to consumers, such as making direct purchases within the magazine, experimenting with changing the color and design of the product to your liking. In addition, the use of artificial intelligence to transmit high-precision data and information about how effectively an advertiser's ad is reaching consumers helps to build a trust-based relationship between World Plus and the advertiser.
