Alex Estrada

Alex Estrada is an American professional golfer from from Belen, New Mexico. Originally from San Diego, California, he was raised in Belen, New Mexico. He played for the University of the Southwest and Univerity of New Mexico Men's Golf Teams. He turned professional in September 2012.

High School

Estrada was a 4-time first team All-District and All-State selection while attending Hope Christian High School under head coach Jon Lehman. He claimed the APS Invivational his junior and serior years, also claiming the District Championship his senior year. Estrada claimed the 2005 Sun Country Junior Match Play Chmpionship and represented the Sun Country Section at the 2005 Junior America's Cup.

College/Amateur

Estrada played one year at University of the Southwest where he earned the team's low scoring average and team MVP for the year. He transfered to the University of New Mexico for his final two years where he captured two individual titles, the 2011 NM Collegiate Cup and the 2012 WNMU Mustaang Intercollegiate. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree majoring in Interpersonal Communication with a minor in Business Management.

Estrada had a successful amateur career, claiming the 2011 Men's Albuquerque City Championship and the 2012 Sun Country Amateur, the most prestigous amateur title in New Mexico and West Texas section. He advanced to the U.S. Open sectional quaifier as an amateur in the summer of 2012. He was an 8-time Challenge Cup team selection for the Sun Country Amateur team, an event featuring the top 16 amateurs in the section verses the top 16 section professionals in a team style event.

Professional

Estrada turned professional in September 2012 at the New Mexico Open, where me made the cut in his professional debut. He has two caddies which inlcude long time friend Marcus Koch and his sister Arrianna, who currently competes and is an All Conference golfer on the Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team. His next scheduled start is set for the 2012 Nevada State Open in December of 2012.
