The Frank N. Meyer Memorial Medal of the American Genetic Association. Frank Nicholas Meyer (1875–1918) given for outstanding contribution in plant introduction.

History

The award was founded in 1919 through a contribution left by Frank Nicholas Meyer (1875–1918) to his fellow workers in what was then known as the Office of Seed and Plant Introduction of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is awared by the American Genetic Association in cooperation with the Office of Plant Introduction of the U.S.D.A. for outstanding contribution in plant introduction. Since 1920, up to 1966, 25 medals have been awarded. A complete account of the Meyer Medal was published in The Journal of Heredity, Vol. 11, pp. 168–173 (1920).
