Jordan Boyd-Graber is a professor at the University of Maryland. Advised by David Blei, he received his PhD from Princeton University in 2010 with a thesis on adding linguistic insights to topic models.[1] He received the 2016 Karen Spärck Jones Award for his contributions to machine learning interpretability.[2]

He builds question answering systems and datasets, including public exhibition matches with systems that have defeated Ken Jennings[3] and top quiz bowl players.[4]
