The Dream Intended is an American pop punk, power-pop band consisting of five members originally formed in 2005 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2005 by veterans of the Pittsburgh music industry, The Dream Intended immediately became a force in western Pennsylvania’s music scene. While the band name may suggest unrequited desires or ambitions, it’s really a testament to the band’s true desire. This desire is only to escape the drab world of 9 to 5, and instead make doing what they love (that is, playing music with one’s best friends) how they make their living.
Ask any of the five members of the band about that “dream” and their hopes and excitement will be apparent by the sudden twinkle in their eye. Their love, passion, and enjoyment are further evident in their catchy, upbeat songs. Audiences have said that they often find themselves singing the words to The Dream Intended’s songs well into the day after they’ve seen them perform. Combining their songs with crazy, upbeat performances, The Dream Intended creates an atmosphere like that of a party at each of their concerts. The Dream Intended plays all original pop rock tunes with a seriously insaciable groove. With more then 300,000 plays on MySpace, a loyal following and a superfly-dynamite stage show, The Dream Intended always leaves audiences slightly devestated and wholly delighted.
Together, The Dream Intended has been packing and selling out venues, big and small, in and around the Pittsburgh area as well as Ohio and New Jersey since their start in 2005. These 5 guys have played at a variety of concert halls, high schools, colleges, festivals, and bars throughout the tri-state area. Road-tripping to shows is, according to the band, “…one of the best parts of playing in a rock band”.[2]
The Dream Intended is influenced by many other bands, some which include: Butch Walker, Weezer, Sugarcult, The Smashing Pumpkins, Motion City Soundtrack, Incubus, Zentai, Drop Monday, Missing Pages, Unspoken, Mad Caddies, Less Than Jake & many more.
The Dream Intended has been featured on LBM MusicZine's CD Sampler Vol. 3 which is available for FREE at any Hot Topic. The compilation also features bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Nada Surf, Ra Ra Riot, and Hit The Lights. The band was recently picked to be on FOX 5 NYC's show Fearless Music as an up and coming artist to watch. This show has featured such artist's as Motion City Soundtrack, Yellowcard, Paramore, The All American Rejects, Gym Class Heroes and MXPX. Fearless Music reaches more than 70 million households across the United States and other parts of the world, and receives more than a million hits a day on their web page. [3]
The Dream Intended self-released their first full-length album in early August 2008. The band's first full-length album is entitled "Break-Up at the Movies" and is available for purchase now through the band's MySpace page and also on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody. The band is currently working on their next EP (name not yet known) which is scheduled to be released sometime in early June 2010.

Formation[edit]
The band formed under the name "The Dream Intended" in Pittsburgh, PA in early 2005 after the dissolution of the other local bands the guys were in, such as, The Have-Nots, Drop Monday, Zentai and PULL. All of the members of The Dream Intended were mutual friends and would play shows together when they were in separate bands. The Dream Intended was formed when these guys decided they didn't want to give up their dream to play music as a living. The first line-up of The Dream Intended consisted of Cheech, Jeff, Brandon, BJ and ... At first the band would play covers of bands such as New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, and ... In (Month/year) (name) was replaced on drums by Johnathan Willard and soon after the band added a third guitar with Jake Coliscenzo.
Writing and First EP, Tight Pants and Funny Haircuts Not Necessary[edit]
With the line-up of Cheech, Jeff, Brandon, Willard and Jake the band began writing their own songs and performing them at local shows. In late 2007 the band took their original songs and hit the studio with producers Dave Hidek and Garrett Haines at TreeLady Studios in Pittsburgh, PA. While preparing for the release of their first full-length album the band released an internet-only EP of 5 songs entitled Tight Pants and Funny Haircuts Not Necessary. The EP was released for download on the band's MySpace page. The EP included "First Date Heartbreak", "Maybe", "Motion Picture Music", ...
Self-Released Full-Length Album, Break-Up at the Movies[edit]
On August 1, 2008, the band self-released their first full-length album entitled Break-Up at the Movies. The album consists of 13 full length tracks with a mixture of sounds but the entire album follows the general theme that music and films work hand-in-hand, thus many of the songs have references to movies in general. The band held their sold-out CD release party at The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh's famed Southside neighborhood on September 20, 2008.
Next EP and the Future[edit]
After the release of their first album the band took some time to travel to New York City to meet with a new producer, Anthony Santo of Chamberlain Music. The Dream Intended recorded three tracks with Anthony Santo in early October 2008. They tweaked and re-recorded "Leave Me Alone" from their first album and recorded two new songs, V.I.P. and Grace Point Blank.
