The Abuja International Housing Show is a housing and construction expo; a forum that brings together all real estate stakeholders to discuss and display sector trends. It was founded in 2005 by Festus Adebayo and has offered real estate stakeholders an additional medium for networking, meeting visitors who have a buying capability – face to face and sealing deals[1].
Abuja Housing Show is an event for Construction Industry Stakeholders presenting new products, innovative services & technology. It is a forum where practitioners in the Housing & Construction Industry meet to exchange ideas & proffer solutions to housing problems.
It is a place for networking, meeting visitors who have a buying capacity-face to face and selling deals. Over the years, Abuja housing show has been able to generate not only high quality audience and sale for exhibitors but also great bargains for attendees. It is on record also that most of the resolutions at this forum has formed part of the Federal Government Housing/Construction policies.
The 12th edition of the Abuja International Housing Show (AIHS) was an offshoot of the International Housing and construction show limited, with the theme: 'Housing affordability versus affordable housing' it took from July 16-19, 2018.[2]

[edit]The Abuja Housing Show is held at International Conference Center in Abuja, which is approximately 7 hectares and is centrally located on the South (Garki) end of Herbert Macaulay Way in the commercial heart of the FCC, about 40 KM (approx. 25 miles) from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and within a 5 KM radius of the major hotels in Abuja.[3]

[edit]The Abuja international show provides opportunity for mortgage banks, developers, building material producers and professionals in the building industry to showcase their products and services as well as exchange ideas and share innovations in the industry[4].
The theme of the event for the 12th edition was “Driving Growth and Sustainability in Nigeria Housing and Mortgage Markets-Improving Structures and Policies for Impact”[5]. The event brings together stakeholders in the housing industry both in the public and private sector to brainstorm and fine-tune the way forward in the housing sector in the country[6].[7]
Nigeria Constructions Housing Awards
[edit]The Nigeria Housing Awards recognises and celebrate original and innovative contractors, businesses, teams, consultants and projects that demonstrate excellence in the building and construction environment. The award was set up to encourage competition and competitive pricing in the Housing Construction Industry. The award categorisation is carefully designed to recognise the efforts of both established and upcoming organisation in the Housing and Construction Sector in Nigeria.[8]
In addition the event serves as a convergence platform for the building and construction industry. The award recognises, appreciates the hardworking, excellent and innovative companies and personalities in the Housing/Construction Sector. Over the years, the Nigeria Housing Awards, formerly known as the Abuja Housing Award, has sought to promote standardisation and ethical practice in the sector.
The award holds in a classy ceremony attracting important institutions, persons and government officials and agencies in the built industry in Nigeria. With unrivalled networking opportunities on the night, the awards are the ultimate celebration of the construction industry’s achievements. The award show takes place on the last day of the Abuja International Housing Show.[9]

[edit]A number of exhibitors buy stands for exhibition. Exhibitors hails from countries like USA, China and Turkey. “We have 284 exhibitors present at the show, out of which we have ten different exhibitors from outside the country. “The countries are USA, Turkey, India, China, London, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa among others,’’ said Fesus Adebayo, who is the Chief Executive Officer, FESADEB Communications Ltd.[10]
