Options for prenatal testing in the third trimester

If a potential problem with development is identified during a primary ultrasound, a fetal MRI may be performed late in the second trimester or early in the third trimester.[1] The timing and requirement of this additional imaging may result in delayed decisions surrounding the management of the pregnancy, however, an MRI provides more detailed imaging of the fetal brain and additional infomation for the family and healthcare team when making clinical decisions.[1]
