The motif of Dong-shin Bae's work is constant. Portrait and nude(self-portrait and woman portrait, nude and nude drawing), still life (apples and peaches in a round tray) and landscape(Mt. Geumjeong Mt. Mudeung, Yeosu sea Mokpo sea). Among them, there are many masterpieces in the 1980s that showed the nude of Bae Dong-Shin's unique personality. It is because of the artist's consistent philosophy of painting. In other words, the basis of Bae Dong-shin's painting philosophy is based on formativeness that expresses three dimensions. Therefore, all the objects he painted are in the form of masses that are collected again with details subdivided into three-dimensional sculptures. In such a process, in particular, the figure of a woman's nude is inevitably expressed as a very rough and ugly woman's body. So, you can quickly feel the unique difference from the many nude works in the world. On the other hand, Bae Dong-shin's paintings are painted in watercolor, so you can feel the unique sense of transparency, opacity, and translucency. However, this simple explanation alone cannot discuss the world of his work. He repeats dozens of croquis and drawings to paint nudes. And in the process, when he thinks, the captured image is expressed in watercolor. All of the nudes in his work pose the same pose, but the feeling of nude painting in her work is all different.
