Julien Bobroff (born 8 September 1971 in Suresnes) is a French physicist and scientific popularizer specialized in superconductivity, magnetism, quantum physics and condensed matter physics. He is also a professor at the University of Paris-Sud and, together with Frédéric Bouquet, founded the research group "La Physique autrement" at the Laboratoire de physique des solides of the University of Paris-Sud and the CNRS, whose purpose is to work on new ways of presenting physics and research to the public.

Education

[edit]

Julien Bobroff defended a thesis at theParis-Sud University in 1997 entitled "NMR study of magnetic correlations in high temperature critical superconductors: effect of impurities". He became a lecturer the following year, and in 2004, he was empowered to direct research. He has been a professor since 2007[1]. In 2011, he obtained the[Jean-Perrin Prize] and the ARCES Prize (Association of Communication Managers in Higher Education) for his popularization activities at the Laboratory of Solid State Physics and during the year of superconductivity. In 2015, he received the "Taste of Science" award in the "Researchers Communicate" category [2].
