Gregory D. Hager is an American computer scientist. He holds the Mandell Bellmore Chair in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, and is the founding Director of the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare. He is currently a member of the Advisory Committee of the CISE directorate of NSF, a member of the Board of Directors of the Computing Research Association, and previously served as the Chair of the Computing Community Consortium, a national effort to engage the computing research community in fundamental research motivated by tackling societal challenges.

Leadership[edit]

Hager chaired the Computing Community Consortium from 2014 to 2016, and he co-chaired (with Susan Graham the 2015 Working Group of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology to review the Federal Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program ((need to add link to report)). He chaired the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University from 2010 to 2015 which grew substantially in size and scope under his leadership. He is currently the Founding Director of the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare. [1] Hager current serves on the Board of Directors of the Computing Research Association

Personal history[edit]

Hager obtained his B.A.. at Luther College in 1983, and his Masters. in 1986 and Ph.D. in 1988 at the [[University of Pensylvania], advised by Ruzena Bajcsy and Max Mintz.
