The Algoma Olympic is a self-unloading bulk carrier and lake freighter.[1] She was built in Port Weller, in 1976, for $30 million CAD.[2] She was launched on May 24, 1976, and delivered to her owners the Upper Lakes Group, who named her the Canadian Olympic. This was consistent with the Upper Lakes Group's naming convention, of names that began with "Canadian". She was renamed the "Algoma Olympic" in 2011, when Algoma Central acquired the Upper Lakes Group's fleet.
