From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Berkshire School (Homestead, Florida) was a private co-educational day and boarding school located at 28800 SW 152 Avenue, Homestead, Florida.

Founded in 1970, Berkshire School was established by Dr. L.R. Farrell and Dorothy A. Farrell in South Dade County. Berkshire served students in prekindergarten through grade twelve and maintained a class-teacher ratio of 9:1. For many years, it was the only non-sectarian private school serving the Homestead and Redlands area. Focused on providing a college-preparatory education to its students, the tenets of Berkshire School were Tradition, Quality, Responsibility, Integrity, and Scholarship.

During Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the school was severely damaged along with the rest of the area, but rebuilt and resumed school.

Berkshire's primary sports programs were basketball, baseball, and softball. The school's colors were green, black, and white. The Berkshire mascot was Braves. In 2000, the basketball program suffered a major blow when the FHSAA declared Berkshire School ineligible to participate in that year's state championship series due to recruiting violations.

In 2001, the school was sold to Lincoln-Martí Schools.
