Thirtymile Creek, Oregon ...
Thirtymile Creek is a tributary of the John Day River that flows through northern Wheeler and southern Gilliam County, Oregon. The mouth of the creek is upstream from the former site of Kinzua,Oregon, a company mill town built in 1928 and completely razed in 1978/'79. The Kinzua railroad ran on tracks that were laid alongside the creek for approximately ten miles. The tracks were dismantled along with Kinzua. The Kinzua Hills Golf Course, reportedly Oregon's only six hole course, is still maintained and irrigated by the waters of Thirtymie Creek. [1]
