The Flats (Georgia Tech)
The Flats is the area on the eastern part of the Georgia Tech campus. The name dates back as early as the 1920s. It was called The Flats because in comparison to Tech Tower, which stands upon a hill, Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field and most of the other athletic facilities lay on the flat part of the Tech campus. Other facilities located on The Flats include Russ Chandler Stadium (Baseball), McCamish Pavilion (Basketball), Mewborn Field (Softball), Griffin Track & Field Facility and the Bill Moore Tennis Center (under construction).
