John Scott Bushe (d. 1887) was a Trinidadian civil servant who served as Colonial Secretary, the highest position available to a "creole", between 1861 and 1887.[1]: 54

John Scott Bushe was born in Trinidad according to Brereton,[1]: 54  or St. Vincent around 1826 (according to the Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slavery). He was the son of Robert Bushe, an English planter who settled in Trinidad and owned Waterloo Estate.[2]

He married the sister-in-law of Lord Harris, the British governor of Trinidad. Harris appointed Scott Bushe his personal secretary. In 1861 he was appointed Colonial Secretary, a job he held until his death in 1887.[1]: 54
