GSTP Background[edit]

According to the directive of Higher Education Extension Council, Guilan Science and Technology Park (GSTP) started its executive operation in September, 2002. Its ICT incubator, obtaining the permission in December, 2002, started with 9 early-stage companies.

The innovation Club was established in 2010, with the aim of supporting talented high school and university students who have innovative scientific or technological ideas provide them with intellectual and financial support. Innovative ideas can be admitted in the following fields:

Regional Reference of Intellectual Property in GSTP[edit]

Regional reference of Intellectual Property in GSTP, collaborating with Intellectual Property Center (Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology) offers the following services to stakeholders:

  • Scientific and technical Evaluation and validation of registered patent
  • Financial support for international patent registration
  • Evaluation of invention applications cases (referred by Iran Intellectual Property Office)
  • Consultation on commercializing inventions
  • Consultation on patent registration

Islamic Republic of Iran’s Techmart[edit]

The Techmart is a venue for systematic technology trading of technical and expertise services between technology suppliers and clients. The Techmart is another support entity managed by GSTP.

Broker of Exporting Knowledge-based Products and Services[edit]

In 2014, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology nominated GSTP as the broker of services for exporting knowledge-based products and services to CIS countries. Some of the essential needs of knowledge-based companies are the facilitation of the process of product export, and training and consultation in the field of exports. Accordingly, and in line with the goal of national wealth creation through the export of high-tech products, GSTP has created a consortium of 25 companies including GSTP tenants and export brokerage companies.

Evaluation and Supervision Broker of Innovation and Prosperity Fund[edit]

By the suggestion of supreme council of Science, Research and Technology and according to the Act of supporting knowledge-based enterprises and commercializing innovation, GSTP was introduced as one of the brokers of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund (NSFund). After being validated by Science and Technology Vice Presidency, knowledge-based companies are introduced to NSFund. NSFund performs initial evaluation, and then refers the case of financial aid to the supervising broker. The broker supervises each enterprise and sends the final report to NSFund.

Secretariat of Inter-Islamic Network in Science and Technology Parks (INSTP)[edit]

Science and Technology Parks (STPs) in the Islamic countries have proved to be useful vehicles for academia-industry interactions with general support of governments. The Inter-Islamic Network on Science and Technology Parks (INSTP) works as a hub and focal institution among the STPs in the Islamic countries. Taking into consideration article No. 25 of the 13th General Assembly Meeting of COMSTECH held on the 1st – 3rd April 2008, also considering article No, 15 of the 14th General Assembly Meeting of COMSTECH held on 11th – 13th January 2011 at Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Inter-Islamic Network on Science and Technology Parks (INSTP) was inaugurated at Guilan Science and Technology Park (GSTP), Guilan, Islamic Republic of Iran, on January 7, 2012.
