The Bullet Project is a project that aims to stimulate the minds of Australia's future generations. This is to be achieved through the construction of a vehicle called The Silver Bullet. The Project founders, Paul Noone and Mark Stephenson, are building the vehicle using Australian technology and resources.
Design and Development
[edit]The Project vehicle The Silver Bullet is a rocket powered car designed to reach speeds in excess of 1,050 miles per hour (1,690 km/h). The design of The Silver Bullet is based on the aerodynamic shape of the x51 waverider x51 Waverider which is designed to travel at hypersonic speeds of Mach7 around 8,050km/h. Aerodynamic effect through the air is totally different to that of the effects at ground level and for this The Bullet Project team will need to research these effects using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to assist in the final design shape.
The Development is a co-operative assembly of scientists and engineers located across Australia with the building of the Vehicle, at present, in Western Australia.
The Build
[edit]The main construction is that of a round a tubular mainframe, within the mainframe there lies a driver compartment, a bio-diesel fuel tank, an oxidiser tank, several nitrogen cylinders and the rocket motors. The vehicle is expected to be al least 40ft (12.192) meters long with a dry weight of 6.5 long ton (uk) (6,604.3049) kilograms.
The four 36-inch (910 mm) diameter wheels will rotate at over 10,500 rpm and will be constructed from composite by a specialist Company to resist the 50,000 g centrifugal forces [1]
