Homer Nelms Charles, born October 24, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana at Flint-Goodridge Hospital. Flint-Goodridge Hospital in New Orleans was the only private Hospital where African American mothers could delivery their children in the early 1960's. The Hospital was the student nurse training facility used by Dillard University, an Historically Black College in New Orleans, La., to train its nursing students. Homer's mother, Cora Ruth Nelms Charles, was a 1958 graduate of Dillard University's School of Nursing. Homer was the second child born to the union of Pierre Sourial Charles, Sr. and Cora Ruth Nelms Charles. The son of a devout Catholic father, Homer, and his brothers, Pierre, Jr. and Michael Pierce, received fundamental education in the Catholic parochial school system of New Orleans. Homer followed the footsteps of his older brother, Dr. Pierre Charles, in attending the world renowned St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. Graduating in 1981, Homer continued his education at The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana as an Accounting major. After college, Homer worked as an Accountant/Auditor with the Los Angeles, Ca-based CPA firm Jenkins and Jones, the Minority subcontractor/subsidiary of then Big Six accounting firm Arthur AndersenLLP. In his Private Accounting practice, homer ascended to the roles of Assistant Controller at Camarillo, Ca-based Golden Health Systems and as a Corporate Tax Accountant with The Coastal Corporation in Houston, Tx. In 1991, Homer and his wife Debra Spruel incorporated HDM International Group Holdings, Inc. through which they operated CSA & Associates Bookkeeping and Tax Service, HDM Real Estate Appraisal Services, HDM Publishing,Inc and later, Groupe Construction LLC.

In 2010, Homer followed an urging and joined Star Hill Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In that community he followed the footsteps of his paternal grandfather, Homer M. Charles Jr. and became a teacher in Star Hill Church's Sunday School program. Later, Homer became instrumental in Star Hill Church's Kingdom Expansionary program and helped spearhead expansion into New Orleans, La.
