The Gobabis Health Centre[2] is a modern, up to the standard Private Hospital in the city center of Gobabis.

History

The Hospital was founded in 1995 by three doctors, a dentist and farmers from Omaheke Region as shareholders.

Present

The Gobabis Health Centre includes the Private Hospital, Practices of three doctors, a Pharmacy, a Laboratory and a X-Ray unit. The centre doesn't have its own ambulance fascility but it is making use of the government emergency units and of E-Med Rescue[3]. In emergency patients can be airlifted from Gobabis Airport.

The Hospital has a theatre, a maternity ward, a general ward, two private wards and an emergency unit. The Hospital is operated by five doctors and eight nurses plus others. A total of 10 patients can be accommodated.

Situated 200 km from the nearest specialists and Intensive Care Units the Gobabis health Centre is a lifesaver for many patients in the eastern part of Namibia. The centre treats patients as far as from Ghanzi in Botswana. The vision of the Centre is to provide in all circumstances professional medical care to patients in a clean friendly enviroment during sickness and trauma.
