Severe Tropical Storm Jasmine was a borderline tropical cyclone that made landfall in Madagascar. [1]This became the seventh tropical storm inside the 2021–22 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season. This was the seventh storm to make landfall in Madagascar[2]

Metrological History[edit]

At 06:00 UTC on 22 April, the MFR released a bulletin detecting a weather disturbance area near Comoros and it was designated 12.[115] The system shifted and gained energy inside the afternoon of the same day achieving tropical disturbance status.[3] The JTWC also released an unofficial bulletin on the low-pressure system, designating it as invest 97S. The cyclone made landfall in Nampula, off the coast of Mozambique.[4] The storm reentered into the Mozambique channel days later, it intensified and reached the status of moderate tropical storm,[5] consequently earning the name Jasmine. It peaked as a severe Tropical storm with windspeed of 110 km/h according to MFR[6] whereas the JTWC anticipated a barely lower windspeed of 100 km/h. soon attaining its top intensity,[7] it commenced to come across low sea floor temperatures in addition to excessive wind shear and baroclinic forces which started out its weakening. With the same depth on 26 April, the storm made landfall at Toliara[8] and the MFR downgraded it into an overland depression.
