Clifford J. "Pat" Quinlan, of Edina, Minnesota, died at age 81 (October 2003). Pat, born and raised in Canby, MN, graduated from the University of Minnesota and The Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. From 1950 to 1980, he was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, with posts in Europe, Africa, & South Asia. He specialized in the Middle East, studying Arabic in Lebanon for two years, then serving in Yemen, Egypt, Turkey, Oman, & Libya. He also served as Public Affairs Officer for the Middle East, as Middle East Advisor in the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, and as Diplomat-in-Residence at Oakland University in Michigan.
